Wembley exhibition to show the horrors of the Holocaust

Rev. Gershon Glausiusz, 76, Cricklewood Synagogue, was born in Hungary and was sent to Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp when he was just 10 years old.

His exhibition, Road to Belsen, will be open to all visitors at Brent Town Hall, Forty Lane, Wembley, for Holocaust Memorial Day, 23 January.

Rev. Glausiusz, who moved to England in 1952 and now lives in Wembley Park, said the collection was not all personal and that some of the photographs had never been displayed before Holocaust Memorial Day is to honour all victims of genocide and the theme for this year is Untold stories.

The inter-faith event will feature a talk from Holocaust survivor, and successful sculptor, Maurice Bilk who will discuss his remarkable life.

There will also be reflections from students who visited Auschwitz concentration camp and Rev Anthony Wolfson, Wembley United Synagogue, will lead a memorial prayer in Hebrew and English.

After the ceremony visitors will be able to view Road to Belsen along with other projects Portraits for Posterity and Untold Stories... Tales of Brent.

Rev. Glausiusz, who prefers the title Reverend to Rabbi, added: “Memorial days are an important part of the ongoing teaching that goes on in our community.”

The Town Hall and Ealing Road libraries are also organising family workshops aimed at encouraging residents to share their own ‘Untold Stories’.
